FamilyCare is happy to announce the introduction of a new specialist service that will be a game changer in the health sector. From mid-August, patients can now access cardiologist service from a resident cardiologist at their Suzie Turn branch. Cardiologist Services will include general cardiology consultations, stress tests, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, Holter (24-hour EKG), pre-anesthesia assessment, echocardiogram, and vascular scans for stroke risk.

This move comes from much research into the market and careful consideration, and patient requests. Currently, most patients seek treatment abroad due to the limited access to a cardiology service in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Well-trained and renowned cardiologist Dr. Agustin Fernandez Verdicchio will lead these new cardiology services. Dr. is a native of Cuba and has practiced in the field of cardiology specifically for eleven (11) years, he worked seven (7) years in intensive care and fifteen (15) years as a trained doctor.  In response to this news, Dr. Verdicchio stated, “Improved access to cardiology services can significantly impact the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI). It can also lead to early detection and management of heart-related conditions, reducing the risk of complications and improving overall health outcomes, contributing to decreased mortality rates in the community. Dr. Verdicchio further added, “Access to cardiology services in the TCI enables individuals to receive appropriate treatments and lifestyle recommendations, leading to a better quality of life and increased functional capacity. Ensuring access to cardiology services for all members of the community helps address health disparities and promotes equity in healthcare.”

Bookings as begun for this new service and FamilyCare officials has confirmed spaces are limited for initial consultations, so patients are advised to book urgently.
